Prayers

May my ancestors, your ancestors, ancestors of those who are not aware of their presence, ancestors of those who have forgotten about them find peace. May the divine Mother Earth, prakruti find peace. May we heal so that we may take mindful steps. May we all remember to always remember where we came from. May we always be respectful to our roots.

As we all gather here today in friendship and community, taking a moment out of our busy lives,to learn, share and reflect on the insights, experiences and wisdom of others, we are reminded of how blessed we all are. In the current world around us there are many who suffer and face grave challenges. We stand in solidarity with them in compassion and by practicing loving kindness to ourselves and all those around us. Taking a couple of stanzas from Metta or compassion meditation, let us engage in the power of prayer that connect us - irrespective of religion - with our beliefs and ideals more deeply helping us to hold them in our minds as we go about our daily business, and helping us to develop a stronger sense of conviction. Let us pray the following in the name of all that is good. May we all be well, happy and peaceful, May no harm come to us, May we all also have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to meet and overcome inevitable difficulties, problems, and failures...

Karkada Vavu

It is because my mother slept off while my father was explaining the war secrets of breaking a chakravyuha, that I was born without complete knowledge. I wanted to be like my father and to fight valiantly like him. Yet,when surrounded by the enemies within the chakravyuha, what I felt is that I do not have anyone and that I have to fend off the enemies till the moment I breathe my last. So, no giving up the fight till this breath becomes part of the world of souls. 

I will remain calm for now I will not worry for now I will be honest just for now  I will be thankful for now  I will love and value every being

 This is what should be done By one who is skilled in goodness, And who knows the path of peace: Let them be able and upright, Straightforward and gentle in speech, Humble and not conceited, Contented and easily satisfied, Unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways. Peaceful and calm and wise and skillful, Not proud or demanding in nature. Let them not do the slightest thing That the wise would later reprove. Wishing: In gladness and in safety, May all beings be at ease. Whatever living beings there may be; Whether they are weak or strong, omitting none, The great or the mighty, medium, short or small, The seen and the unseen, Those living near and far away, Those born and to-be-born — May all beings be at ease! Let none deceive another, Or despise any being in any state. Let none through anger or ill-will Wish harm upon another. Om Sri Krishnah sharanam namah : This chant is a call to the beloved Lord Krishna where you pray to him to take you under his shelter, surrendering yourself to him with utmost devotion. This mantra is said to take away all the grief and miseries from your life and mind, giving you peace.

Saraswati Mantra Saraswati Mahabhage Vidye Kamalalochane Vishwaroope Vishaalaakshi Vidyam dehi namosthuthe Meaning: Oh great Goddess Saraswati, the lotus-eyed personified knowledge. Oh, I request you to shower me with all the powers and glories of all knowledge that exist. She has large eyes, taking the form of the whole universe.

Om Rajadabaaya vidmahe, Brigusuthaya dhimahi, tanno sukrah prachodayat.” Meaning: I bow down in front of Lord Shukra who is the descendant of Sage Bhrigu and the one who is mounted on a white horse. Let his blessings illumine my consciousness and enlighten my being.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me bring love. Where there is offence, let me bring pardon. Where there is discord, let me bring union. Where there is error, let me bring truth. Where there is doubt, let me bring faith. Where there is despair, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness, let me bring your light. Where there is sadness, let me bring joy. O Master, let me not seek as much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love, for it is in giving that one receives, it is in self-forgetting that one finds, it is in pardoning that one is pardoned, it is in dying that one is raised to eternal life. 

Let us embrace and enjoy the divine rays of the moon on this day of Sharad Purnima!
