TO THE MASTER OF LIFE 

The Delaware people offer this prayer 

Master of life, you made the sky and the earth, the trees and grass, the lakes and the rivers, the animals and the birds and and women; and you watch over all that you have made. You love each one of us, and we wish to act in the way that  that you hate. We will not fight with one another, but will solve our disputes amicably. We will be faithful to the spouse you have chosen. We will not listen to anyone who tells us to ignore you, but we will always listen to you. We will never forget our ancestors, but we will remember their good example. And we will never spoil or damage the land on which live, but cherish it as a gift from you.
